This Organic Asamushi Asanoka Sencha from Hioki, Kagoshima, is a lightly steamed (Asamushi) first-harvest Sencha, grown by the Komaki family on their organic tea fields in the Hioki district of Kagoshima—the same fields used for their Fukamushi—made from the Asanoka cultivar. Asa refers to the freshness of morning and evokes the image of newly sprouted leaves.

The deep green leaves are delicately processed and shaped into beautiful, needle-like forms. Unlike the deep-steamed Fukamushi version, this Asamushi Sencha preserves the leaf’s natural structure and clarity of flavor.

  • Sencha Fukamushi is best brewed in a small, preheated teapot and with full attention.

    You can brew several times on the same leaves, adjusting the water temperature and brewing time.

    Below a suggestion for brewing this tea, but please experiment and find your own favorite cup.

    Use 8-10g for 200 ml water.
    1. brew: water 60-70°C / 30 sec.
    2. brew: water 80°C / pour immediately
    3. brew: water 90°C / pour immediately

    This tea is also perfect for cold infusions, using either still or sparkling water.
