Sencha Tea Set

DKK 1,050.00

Azmaya Hira Kyūsu & Cups. The perfect Sencha Tea Set.
Value DKK 1.200.00

A teapot handmade with crow clay in Tokoname, Aichi Prefecture by Takasuke Tōen, one of the most famous kyūsu-manufactures in Tokoname, using traditional Japanese ceramic techniques. The exterior and interior is unglazed and has a smooth tactile finish – honoring the clays natural beauty. An extra fine ceramic mesh filter is built into the interior of the pot, carefully filtering out small tea particles. A delicate spout ensures a good pour.

L17.5 x W13.2 x H7.5 cm
300ml
Tokoname, Japan

Kumidashi Teacups made from Japanese porcelain extracted from Amakusa and fired in the Shiratake-gama ceramics studio located in Hasami, Nagasaki. The artisans are careful not to over-refine the material leaving each cup with a beautiful and natural texture. The light ash glaze gives the cup a light blue-green glow.

Shallow and round, the Kumidashi shaped teacup is traditionally used for offering Sencha green tea when welcoming guests to a Japanese tea ceremony.

Ø9 x H5.5 cm
200 ml.
Hasami i Nagasaki, Japan

Azmaya (founded 1997) works in close collaboration with artisans, craftsman, and local small-scale manufacturers within Japan to produce high quality contemporary items that celebrate local materials, traditional Japanese handcrafts, and regional techniques.
